A porcelain lamp that I think looks its best standing on the floor, tucked into a corner like a curious little creature that has wandered in from the mangroves. Its three-legged base recalls the tangled roots of a mangrove, while the milky glass globe glows softly like a firefly moving through the darkness. An unexpected orange cord adds a bright pop of color against the blue and mossy green body.

The lamp’s rich, shifting surface is the result of soda firing, a specialized ceramic firing process in which soda is introduced into the hot kiln, vaporizing and interacting with the red-hot surfaces to create unique atmospheric effects.

Designed as a floor lamp, Mangrove-Dweller can also perch on a table, dresser, or other surface. Wherever it lands, it brings a little piece of an imaginary underwater world to life.
